In the spring of 2015, the competitive arm of the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) in Arizona voted to merge and become one. The combined clubs will unite as one under the name Challenge FC.
This merger combines resources and provides better opportunities for the children in our community. We did this because it is the best thing for our kids. The goal was to create a state-wide club which offers a high level of coaching and player development. Here are four main tenets and reasons for this merger:
To build on our collective strengths, offering an environment that attracts, develops, and retains players of all abilities to improve character and physical fitness through the game of soccer.
To attract and develop coaches and trainers who are invested in building these qualities in Arizona youth. Creating a seamless soccer model with a Director of Coaching will ensure our coaches are being trained and developed at an excellent level.
Through consolidation of administration and operations, the merged club will gain economies of scale, operating efficiencies, and increased donor support. The combined club will have more negotiating power with uniform and equipment providers, more financial support through sponsorships, partnerships with companies, grants, and more manpower for fundraising activities. In addition, a larger club allows for economies of scale with practice facilities and training fields.
To maintain a board that will continue to provide leadership to the organization and demand the same from its players, parents, coaches, and trainers.
